Legislature making progress on bills addressing homelessness
Washington state lawmakers are making progress on legislation to “address the crisis” of homelessness, Democratic legislative leaders said Tuesday. Several bills are expected to move forward in the House and Senate that will “continue to move us in the direction where we are taking care of people who are experiencing homelessness,” state Rep. Lovelett joins in asking court to determine constitutionality of graduated income tax
State Sen. Liz Lovelett, D-Anacortes, and 14 other state legislators have asked the state Supreme Court to overturn a 1933 ruling that holds as unconstitutional the graduated income tax — a tax that rises in steps, with those having the highest income paying the highest percentage of tax.
