Gov. Jay Inslee’s campaign to clamp down on greenhouse gas emissions from the state’s transportation fuels, a high-profile goal throughout his two terms in office, faces a difficult road as the Washington state Legislature heads into the final two weeks of its session. Senate resolution honors 100-plus years of Sikh contributions to Washington
The Washington State Senate last Friday honored Washington’s Sikh community with a resolution sponsored by Sen. Mona Das, D-Kent, and co-sponsored by Sen. Manka Dhingra, D-Redmond. Joined by Gov. Jay Inslee and Lt. Gov. Cyrus Habib, more than 50 Sikh community members were present at the State Capitol in Olympia for an official reading of the resolution and community reception. ‘An abundance of caution’: As more coronavirus cases emerge, schools in Washington state are closing, cleaning and waiting
More than a dozen schools across the state shut their doors or canceled plans Monday as they received intelligence or suspicions that students might be at risk for novel coronavirus. Sixteen K-12 schools and one college in Washington closed Monday, according to a running list from the state Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.
