Half of WA’s undocumented immigrants are uninsured. For the first time, the state marketplace is open to them
lmost 30 years ago, Javier was in his mid-40s and had just moved to the U.S. from Mexico when he had a heart attack. Javier asked KUOW not to publish his last name because he’s undocumented. Someone called an ambulance, and he woke up in a hospital, he said. They stabilized him and sent him home. The hospital was asking for tens of thousands of dollars — money Javier didn’t have. New study finds a majority of Clark County’s homeless students are students of color
A new study released last month shows a majority of Clark County’s homeless students are students of color. The report, by nonprofit Building Changes, is based on school-level data and fed from Washington’s Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. Out of the nearly 3,000 students who experienced homelessness last year in Clark County, 55 percent (1,646) were students of color. Continue reading at The Columbian. (iStock.com)

The late-September release seemed to indicate Sinclair station KUNS would end its Univision affiliation, spelling the end not only of national Spanish-language programming but also the region’s lone, locally produced TV newscast in Spanish.
