OLYMPIA—The path to higher wages is higher education, and local options for people to gain those skills and jobs got a boost with proposed House budgets, said Rep. Greg Nance (D-Kitsap).
“I’m happy to report the House capital budget includes $45 million for Olympic College construction,” Nance said.
That funding comes along with other good news including resources to hire a director to help oversee development of new programs in radiologic technology and diagnostic medical sonography at Olympic College.
“Our healthcare system is in crisis from a lack of skilled medical workers,” Nance said. “These new investments will help bridge the access gap by training local workers for great careers.”
Additionally, the House operating budget includes an $18.48 investment for an Opioid Treatment Clinic in Poulsbo.
“I’m grateful for the Suquamish Tribe stepping up to help neighbors in need. This clinic will save lives in Kitsap and provide hope and healing for those who need it most,” said Nance.
The House and Senate are now in negotiations on final compromises for the three state budgets: operating, transportation, and capital. The 105-day session is scheduled to end April 27.
