OLYMPIA – Washington Speaker of the House Laurie Jinkins (D-Tacoma) released the following statement today on the passing of state Sen. Bill Ramos (D-Issaquah):

“Sen. Bill Ramos brought boundless energy and incredible dedication to doing the people’s work in the legislature. As the former chair of the State Government and Tribal Affairs Committee in the House, he helped advance legislation to ensure more effective, accountable, and equitable government for all people in Washington. He was also a tireless champion for improving our transportation system, making our communities safer, and protecting Washington’s natural resources and outdoor spaces. His unwavering commitment to these issues continued in the state Senate, where he served as vice chair of the Transportation Committee and continued to partner with legislators across the Rotunda – and across the aisle – to help advance good policy for our state. Bill was also a proud member of the Latino Democratic Caucus, serving as its vice chair while in the House. House Democrats mourn the loss of our colleague and friend, and send our heartfelt condolences to his wife Sarah, his children, and all who knew and cared for him.”
