WA health inspectors on cusp of gaining access to Tacoma immigrant detention center
Washington’s Department of Health stands ready to inspect the state’s only immigrant detention center after a court ruling last month. State inspectors for years have been pushing for access to the heavily scrutinized, 1,575-bed private facility in Tacoma known as the Northwest ICE Processing Center. Seattle council approves bill limiting ‘predatory’ home buying
In an effort to limit predatory homebuying practices, the Seattle City Council Tuesday passed a bill adding new requirements on anyone trying to convince homeowners to sell their homes that haven’t been listed for sale. The goal is to make it harder for buyers to take advantage of homeowners who may be in a desperate financial situation and who may accept a low-ball offer on their most valuable asset. Amazon reaches goal of creating 10,000 affordable homes in Puget Sound region
In 2021, Amazon set course on an ambitious goal to create 10,000 affordable homes throughout the Puget Sound region. As of Friday, Sept. 12, Amazon announced it has reached its housing commitment vision. More than 10,000 affordable homes across the Puget Sound region represent more than $900 million in housing investments, benefitting an estimated 22,000 residents, according to Amazon, by providing stable housing close to jobs, schools, and transit.
