Washington state farmers are surrounded by challenges to their way of life and the state’s economy
American agriculture has changed a lot since the mid-20th century. And the challenges farmers face today are different as well. The list is long. In addition to ongoing labor issues, there are stagnant commodity prices, rising equipment and transportation costs, tariffs, unevenly distributed government subsidies and federal programs that stop and start government distribution of surplus crops. Superior Court dismisses Christian nationalist’s lawsuit against the city of Spokane
A Superior Court judge dismissed a lawsuit from Christian nationalist Sean Feucht against the city of Spokane on Thursday. Feucht filed the lawsuit last year against current and former Spokane city councilmembers who denounced former Mayor Nadine Woodward for appearing at a rally with Feucht in 2023. According to the city, the court on Thursday found there was no legal merit to Feucht’s claims and the city did not burden Feucht’s religious practice or free speech. Continue reading at KXLY. State lawmakers from across the country are asking the Trump administration to stop its review of state laws it says are overly burdensome on businesses. Earlier this week, the National Conference of State Legislatures wrote to federal leaders, citing bipartisan concern about recent federal actions that, in its view, attempt to undermine the authority of state governments.
