Rep. Doglio sworn in, elected Chair of the Environment & Energy Committee

OLYMPIA – Rep. Beth Doglio (D-Olympia) has been officially sworn in as a state representative of the 22nd Legislative District. A long-time environmental advocate and community leader, she is returning to the seat she served from 2017 to 2021.

In December 2022, the House announced that Doglio will chair the House Environment & Energy Committee.

“I am excited to once again represent the 22nd Legislative District this time chairing the House Environment & Energy Committee. With the policies in place to move us toward the vision of a fossil free Washington by 2050, I am excited to put the building blocks in place to turn that vision into a reality. It is the greatest challenge of our generation.”

In her previous legislative work, Doglio was a leader in environmental policy, and championed the adoption of a clean buildings standard and 100% clean electricity in Washington. She additionally led efforts in housing, gun safety, support for women and members of the LGBTQ community, state employees, and worker protection and empowerment.

Alongside her continued leadership in environmental policy, Doglio will serve on the House Labor & Workplace Standards and House Transportation Committees. “These committees position me to continue advocating for a well-equipped workforce with good pay and benefits, safe working conditions, and unionized shops. Our area has some big transportation challenges ahead and I will be a strong voice for funding and creative solutions.”

The 22nd Legislative District is at the heart of the state capitol, including Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, and North Thurston County and the ancestral lands of the Nisqually, Squaxin Island and Chehalis Nations.

The 2023 regular session is slated to run for 105 days, through April 23, 2023.
