Beth is currently serving her fourth term representing the 22nd Legislative District in Washington State and her second term as Chair of the House Environment & Energy Committee. She has worked at Climate Solutions for 20 years, a Northwest-based clean energy nonprofit. In addition, she served as the first Executive Director of Washington Conservation Voters and worked for Pro-Choice Washington, Audubon Washington, and Seattle Public Utilities. Beth is Chair of the Board of New Horizons, which provides housing to the most vulnerable and veterans. She also serves on the Board of Trustees for South Sound YMCA. Beth has a degree from Indiana University in Political Science and Telecommunications. She lives in Olympia with her husband, Dr. Eddy Cates and loves being in the wilderness especially with her two grown sons.
