Greetings from Olympia and welcome to the 2019 legislative session!
It has already been a busy start to a long 105-day session. I am incredibly grateful to be representing the 33rd Legislative District once again for my third term.
Throughout this session, and more specifically as the newly elected Chair of the House Committee on State Government & Tribal Relations, I plan to continue advocating for policies that will strengthen our democracy. I plan to prioritize providing more accountability and transparency in our electoral processes, making sure that voters in our state are empowered to elect leaders who truly represent all Washingtonians.
In addition to serving as the Chair of State Government & Tribal Relations, I will serve on the following committees:
This year, I am proud to push forward this work with our most diverse class of elected officials to ever serve in Olympia. We how have a female majority House Democratic Caucus, and 15 women of color now serve in both House and Senate Democratic caucuses.
I feel an incredible calling in improving inclusivity and equity to our state wherever I can. I look forward pushing for this with this whip smart cohort of elected women of color.
Finally, please meet this dynamic duo for this session, Daniel Lugo and Kate Armstrong. Daniel has worked as my Legislative Assistant for over a year, while Kate is completing her legislative internship in my office as part of her undergraduate degree at Western Washington University. These two keep our office running every single day.
