Every 10 years, the United States Census Bureau conducts a count of every person in the United States called a census. The information collected during the census count goes on to shape how much federal funding each community receives, and how many representatives each state has in Congress.
During each census count, our state and federal governments recruit and employ hundreds of Washington workers to help conduct outreach to ensure an accurate count.
It is estimated that for every 100 households that are NOT counted, Washington will lose $5.8 million in federal funding. That means for each household that does respond, there will be more funding for supporting our friends, neighbors, families, seniors, veterans, and all of us.
Our South King County community has changed so much in the last decade, so it is vital that we count each and every person to ensure we receive the federal funding our community needs to thrive. If you are interested in serving your community through census outreach, apply here.
