33rd District Update from Olympia: Welcome to the 2025 Legislative Session!

Dear friends and neighbors,

The 2025 legislative session is here. With so much uncertainty at the national level, I want to reaffirm my commitment to you and our community that House Democrats in Washington will concentrate on policies aimed at bolstering communities, ensuring access to affordable housing, fostering good job opportunities, and maintaining a strong economy.

My committee assignments this year are essential to this work. I am honored to continue serving on the House Appropriations Committee as Vice-Chair and the Housing Committee.

Staying Focused

While Washington has received high rankings for its economy, public education, and quality of life, the need for continued progress to support working families is paramount. We must acknowledge that our state faces challenges, such as a budget shortfall due to decreased revenue, inflation, and increased demand for public services.

Despite these challenges, we will continue to prioritize the well-being of Washington’s residents and families by focusing on supporting schools, improving student success, and addressing the continued need for more affordable housing.  My promise to you this year is to work with my colleagues to make sure that Washington state continues to move forward as a leader in the country for good governance and working to rebuild the middle class.  I really hope to hear from you throughout this legislative session on the issues that matter to you.

How To Participate in Your Democracy

During odd years like 2025, the House and Senate meet for 105 straight days, weekends included. In even-numbered years, the Legislature meets for 60 days. Here are the major deadlines and milestones for the 2025 session:

It’s easier than ever to see what’s happening in the state House of Representative—and to share your thoughts.

  • You can watch any committee hearing or floor debate on TVW, either live or after the event.
  • To share your story, you can testify live in committees or sign up to testify remotely.
  • And you can reach me by email, regular mail, or the toll-free Hotline (1-800-562-6000).

For more ways to participate, continue taking part in our civic education resources and programs. If you’re interested in an issue, or passionate about solving a problem, please speak out!

Become A Legislative Page!

The Washington State Legislature has one of the best page programs in the country! Pages are sponsored by legislators and serve for one week during the legislative session, learning about the legislative process while distributing materials throughout the Capitol, assisting offices, delivering messages, and presenting colors at the opening of the day’s legislative session.

Find out more about the page program by clicking here.

Staying In Touch

It is a privilege to continue representing our community. If you have questions or concerns you want to share, please don’t hesitate to contact our office by reaching out to me directly or Tyra – especially if you have any special requests for services such as translation, interpretation, ADA accessibility, or any other assistance that would help you participate in our democracy. We hope to hear from you!

Thank you for the opportunity to serve.

Best wishes,

Representative Mia Gregerson
