Halfway Through: My Four Bills that Passed!

Dear friends and neighbors,

We’re making progress in Olympia! Several of my bills have passed in the House and are now headed to the Senate for consideration. These bills address issues from clean energy to public health and safety.

✅ HB 1329 – Strengthening Clean Energy Procurement  This bill clarifies how electric utilities can purchase wholesale power under the Washington Clean Energy Transformation Act, helping to ensure reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity for Washingtonians.

✅ HB 1562 – Expanding Access to Baby Changing Stations  Parents and caregivers shouldn’t struggle to find a clean, safe place to change their babies while out in public. This bill increases the availability of baby diaper changing stations in public restrooms, making Washington more family friendly.

✅ HB 1610 – Protecting Critical Energy Infrastructure  This bill ensures that sensitive energy infrastructure information remains protected while maintaining necessary transparency, enhancing both security and public trust in our energy systems.

✅ HB 1670 – Increasing Transparency on Sewage Spills  Communities deserve to know when sewage spills occur. This bill strengthens reporting requirements, ensuring that the public has timely and clear information about sewage-containing spills that can affect public health and the environment.

What’s next?

We’ve just passed the House of Origin Cutoff, which is the deadline for bills to pass out of their original chamber (either the House or the Senate) to stay in consideration this session. Now, my bills move to the Senate, where they’ll go through committee hearings, debate, and votes. We’re now in the second half of the 2025-2026 legislative session, continuing to push forward policies that improve our communities. Stay tuned for updates as these bills progress!
