Police reform bill could bring Washington to forefront of accountability movement
As police reform advocates look to sustain this summer’s public outrage, the state Legislature is taking a second look at overhauling Washington’s peace officer decertification system. That certification is required to be an officer in Washington, and revoking it can permanently take away a cop’s badge and gun. Continue reading at The Union-Bulletin. (Amanda Snyder)

I-940: Good policy, but watch closely
In 2018, most of the police establishment lined up against Initiative 940. On the other side were mental health advocates, families of those lost to police shootings and the King County Sheriff. Two years later, the public finally saw some results from the law’s passage when an Auburn police officer was charged with murder for shooting a suspect. Continue reading at The Auburn Reporter.

Trump, first lady positive for virus; he has ‘mild symptoms’
Trump has consistently played down concerns about being personally vulnerable.
