King County will challenge legality of I-976
King County Executive Dow Constantine is preparing to file a legal challenge against Initiative 976, which was approved by voters across the state in the Nov. 5 election. A press release from the Executive’s office on Nov. 6 said Constantine asked the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s office to prepare a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of I-976. The initiative promises $30 car tabs, but could result in more than $100 million in cuts to Metro services between 2020 and 2025. Continue reading in the Auburn Reporter.

Inslee postpones future transportation projects after voters approve I-976
Gov. Jay Inslee has taken immediate action after voters approved an initiative that would slash car-tab fees. The Associated Press called the measure Wednesday. $30 car tab measure passing, billions could be cut
State and local governments could end up scrambling to pay for road paving and other transportation projects as a Washington state measure that would cut car tabs to $30 was passing in early returns Tuesday. Sponsored by Tim Eyman, the measure would cap most taxes paid through annual vehicle registration at $30 and largely revoke the authority of state and local governments to add new taxes and fees without voter approval. The affirmative action referendum was narrowly trailing in Washington after the first round of election numbers were released Tuesday night. At 9:11 p.m., 51.18 percent of votes counted were rejecting it. By that time, there were 918,690 votes counted statewide. Continue reading at KIRO7.com.

Constitutional amendment on emergency power takes lead
Washington voters were supporting an update to a constitutional amendment on emergency government powers in early returns.Resolution 8200 was passing with more than 65 percent of the vote initial returns Tuesday night. The measure asked voters to broaden the section on “continuity of governmental operations in periods of emergency” so that continuity is ensured not only in case of attack but also in case of “catastrophic incidents” like a massive earthquake. Whether you drive Highway 99 or not, the tunnel tolls starting Nov. 9 will disrupt your travel in downtown Seattle through higher costs, slower trips or more aggravation. The dream of a ferry ride from Olympia to Tacoma or Seattle isn’t dead — but it also isn’t coming true any time soon. In 2018, a Port of Olympia sub-committee looking into passenger-only ferry service for the area found a high degree of interest. That same year, State Sen.
