Rep. Riccelli at the YMCA Youth Legislature Proclimation SigningLast week the Chase Youth Foundation announced that Representative Marcus Riccelli had been selected as one of their 2013 Champion of Youth award winners.

The annual awards, which are divided into six categories, are given to an individual or group that provides opportunities for area youth to grow and become empowered community leaders. Rep. Riccelli was selected as the winner of the Government category.

The Chase Youth Foundation had this to say in announcing their pick:

“Representative Riccelli represents the 3rd legislative district in Spokane.  He has sponsored bills that promote youth involvement in higher education, fund higher education childcare grants, and legislation to recognize Spokane’s Lilac Association, which provides tens of thousands of scholarship dollars in Spokane County.  Representative Riccelli has a voting record that shows strong support of public education from primary grades through higher education, and has co-sponsored legislation that provided for digital education enhancements, and recognition of Children’s Day.  He serves on the Health Care and Wellness Committee and the Higher Education Committee and has a huge influence on youth in the State of Washington, and more importantly, can be trusted with that influence.”
