Thank YOU for making the mobile office a success!

Dear friends and neighbors,

Last week, I invited you to our mobile office and you showed up in impressive numbers. I asked Spokanites about the issues important to them, and followed up with meaningful one-on-one discussions with each of them.

Setting up shop in the entrance of the Downtown Spokane Library, I met several folks who had just come down to the library to check out a book, never having considered engaging with their elected officials. Some of my favorite discussions are the ones that encourage folks to participate in their democracy for the first time.

Still, many joined in on the mobile office because they had a laser-focused policy issue they came to discuss with me. With such a great turnout, there was no shortage of diverse issues. I heard from a 12-year-old student about his experience in special education programs and the need for strengthening these programs in our state. I discussed the need for cost of living adjustments with a PERS 1 retiree. Early learning professionals shared with me their passion for educating the next generation and ways we can make their vital work more affordable and accessible for all people.

It is an honor to serve you. Opportunities like the mobile office are great but they are far from your only chance to engage. Your advocacy is appreciated. A healthy democracy only works with an active and engaged citizenry. Please do not hesitate to email me if you have questions, feedback, or concerns.

Best regards,

Riccelli Sig
