Join Me in Olympia to Celebrate Eid!

Friends and neighbors,

I am delighted to invite you to a special Eid-al-Fitr celebration at the end of this month! In Washington state, we strive for diversity and inclusion, yet Muslim Americans—our neighbors, colleagues, and friends—still do not see their most sacred holidays, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, officially recognized.

This year, we are aiming to change that with SB 5106/HB 1434 by granting legislative recognition to Eid, ensuring that Muslim Washingtonians feel seen, valued, and respected.

Recognition of Eid is not just symbolic—it is a step toward equity. Many Muslim students must choose between education and religious observance, and working professionals often struggle to take time off. We recognize Christmas, Lunar New Year, and other important dates; it’s time we extend that recognition to Eid.

Join us as we celebrate, learn, and continue the conversation about fostering inclusivity in our state:

  • Date: Monday, March 31st, 12:45 – 2:15 pm
  • Location: Senate Rules Room, 220 Legislative Building, 416 Sid Snyder Ave SW, Olympia, WA 98504
  • Time: 12:45 pm – 2:15 pm

Let’s come together to honor this important tradition and push for meaningful change. We hope to see you there!

In Service,

Representative Osman Salahuddin
