Governor Jay Inslee and Lt. Governor Brad Owen welcomed former Seattle Seahawks offensive tackle and nine-time Pro Bowler Walter Jones to the state capitol today for a brief 12th Man rally. Also on hand was SeaGal Stephanie and the Seahawks mascot, Blitz.
Governor Inslee issued a “Seahawks Blue Friday” proclamation and asked the crowd to wear blue and green on Friday in support of the Hawks playoff game against the New Orleans Saints this weekend.
The event also provided an opportunity to highlight the new Seahawks and Sounders FC license plates, which we wrote about here. All proceeds from the license plates go to youth charities in Washington state.
About 200 loyal #12s were on hand to honor the team’s 13-3 record for the 2013 season. The rally ended with the raising of the 12th Man Flag.
