Official oyster and waterfall in the works

Not everything is problem-solving and budget-writing at the Legislature, and while those are huge elements when it comes to defining our state, so is giving official status to elements in and of the Evergreen state.

This session two bills rapidly moving through the legislative process aim to add a waterfall and an oyster to the list of state symbols.

Both measures were lobbied by elementary and junior high students. These students came to Olympia last week and made their case before the House Government Operations and Elections Committee on what makes this waterfall and this oyster so special and deserving of the official state titles.
