Honoring our Veterans: A Day of Gratitude

On Veterans Day, I was honored to speak at the Mill Creek service to express our deepest thanks and respect for our veterans. Our veterans are the bedrock of the freedoms we enjoy, and each one of them has played a vital role in shaping our democracy.

The hard work of our veterans has given us the stability and security we cherish today, opening up a future full of opportunities. It’s our duty to carry this legacy forward for the generations to come.

So, to all our veterans out there, a massive thank you. Your strength and tenacity embody the very spirit of our nation. Whether you’re here in Washington or beyond, know that our respect for you is unwavering, and we’re committed to backing up our words with actions that match the scale of your service.

Building Bridges: The Congressional Black Caucus

In the heart of our democracy lies a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Recently, I had the honor of participating in the Congressional Black Caucus, a gathering to navigate pathways for positive change. This experience is not just about dialogue; it’s a catalyst for building bridges that directly impact Washington State. Recognizing the significance of diversity in policymaking, our discussions at the Congressional Black Caucus hold the key to fostering a more inclusive and impactful legislative landscape for our state.

Exploring Cultural Riches

Recently, Rep. Sharon Tomiko Santos led a visit to Seattle’s Wing Luke Museum—a vibrant hub of Asian Pacific American culture. Nestled in the Chinatown-International District, it celebrates our community’s diverse heritage. This visit emphasized the cultural importance woven into Washington State, highlighting contributions, struggles, and triumphs. Beyond local impact, the museum’s national recognition by the U.S. National Park Service in 2013 underscores its role in preserving a rich cultural mosaic. A truly enlightening experience!

The Working Families Tax Credit stands as a beacon of financial support for hardworking families, offering indispensable assistance to ensure their economic well-being. I was delighted to attend a community event where reps from the Department of Revenue were signing people up.

We’ve already refunded more than $108 million to working families across the state. We’ve received nearly 190,000 applications, and it’s not too late for you to apply. You can learn more about whether you qualify and how to apply here.
