Who: Rep. Zack Hudgins (D-Tukwila)
What: Bill signing with Governor Jay Inslee
When: Monday, March 19 2:30 p.m.
Where: Foster High School – 4242 S 144th St, Tukwila, WA 98168
Why: Governor Inslee will be signing a package of bills to increase participation and improve representation in our elections.
The Access to Democracy package includes Automatic Voter Registration, Election Day voter registration, 16- and 17-year-old voter pre-registration, the Washington Voting Rights Act, the DISCLOSE Act, and election security practices. More information on these bills here.
Only a handful of bills will be signed outside of Olympia this year, and we are thrilled that the Governor accepted our invitation to celebrate these huge achievements in the community in South King County. It is particularly meaningful to do so at Foster High School – the alma mater of Rep. Mia Gregerson, one of the sponsors of the Washington Voting Rights Act; and the target demographic of former high school teacher Rep. Steve Bergquist’s youth pre-registration bill.
