Dear friends and neighbors,
We’re past another important session deadline: House of Origin Cutoff. This means that any bill that did not move off the House Floor will not become law in 2025. While the nights were long I’m proud of the hours my colleagues and I put in so we could send legislation that benefits working families, students, and consumers over to the Senate.

Rep. Callan’s bills moving on to the Senate
I’m happy to see that most of my priority bills have already moved on the floor and will get a chance in the Senate. Like most years, I am focusing on working towards helping students with complex needs get what they need to be successful. Here are my bills that have been voted off the floor:
- HB 1272 – Increases coordination across government agencies so more children can be helped by the child and youth multisystem care project director position within the Office of the Governor.
- HB 1314 – Establishes emergency grants for early learning facilities and expands Early Learning Facility grant funding to tribal compact schools and projects that increase the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program capacity
- HB 1709 – Allows parent-designated adults to administer care for students in grades K-12 with adrenal insufficiency if needed. This will allow students dealing with this affliction to know that if the worst-case scenario happens during school, they’ll be able to get important first treatments in a timely manner. This bill will likely see an executive session sometime next week
- HB 1827– Extends the work established by my HB 1580 so more children can be helped by the child and youth multisystem care project director position within the Office of the Governor.

Celebrating Women’s History Month
I’m proud to serve in the Democratic Caucus with a large representation of women. We continue to pass legislation that makes Washington State a place where women feel safe and respected. During my time in the Legislature, we’ve passed bills protecting reproductive rights, expanding opportunities for women, and supports for families that have allowed women to balance a career and homelife. I look forward to continuing this work and keeping our State a place that puts women forward.
