2025 Legislative Session is Here – Opening Day & Staying Engaged

Friends and neighbors,

It’s that time of year again! The 2025 legislative session has begun, and over the next 101 days, the legislature will work to pass a balanced two-year budget that addresses our state’s most urgent needs. It is a sincere honor to return to Olympia to serve you and the 46th Legislative District.

This session, I am serving as the Vice Chair of the House Civil Rights & Judiciary Committee. I am also a member of the House Community Safety Committee and the State Government & Tribal Relations Committee. As legislative session progresses, I will keep you updated on the legislation I am advocating for, upcoming events, and important funding for our community.

In the meantime, there are several ways you can stay engaged this legislative session and ensure your voice is heard in Olympia. To better understand what issue matter most to you, please consider filling out this survey!

How to Participate in Your Democracy

It’s easier than ever to see what’s happening in the state House of Representative—and to share your thoughts.

  • You can watch any committee hearing or floor debate on tvw.org, either live or after the event.

If you’re interested in an issue, or passionate about solving a problem, please speak out!

Opening Day Ceremonies

Anything is possible when we listen to each other and collaborate as neighbors to address challenges. This spirit was evident on the first day of the 2025 session when the House of Representatives re-elected Rep. Laurie Jinkins as Speaker of the House, Rep. Chris Stearns as Speaker Pro Tem, and Rep. Tara Simmons as Deputy Speaker Pro Tem. You can watch their brief speeches below by clicking here or on the image below.

How to Reach Me

As your representative, staying connected with you is my top priority. Whether you have questions, concerns, or ideas, I encourage you to reach out. You can contact me via email or by reaching out to my wonderful legislative assistant Sunshine. You can also follow me for the latest updates on Facebook and my website.

On January 9th, Rep. Pollet, Senator Valdez, and I held a community town hall at North Seattle College. To everyone who attended, thank you! It means everything to me to be with you in our community, hear your concerns, and learn how I can best advocate for your needs.

Throughout the legislative session, I will continue to hold regular town hall meetings and community forums. Keep an eye out for announcements about these events, where we can discuss important issues face-to-face. Your input is invaluable, and I look forward to hearing from you!

In Service,

Rep. Darya Farivar
