Dear Friends and Neighbors,
The 2025 legislative session is underway, and I’m so honored to continue representing the 1st Legislative District. I wanted to take a moment to share updates about the work we’re doing, my priorities this session, and how you can stay connected.

My Priorities This Session
This year, I’m focused on legislation that will have a meaningful impact on our lives and our communities:
- The People’s Privacy Act: In today’s digital age, our personal data has become one of the most valuable commodities. This bill ensures that Washingtonians have greater control over their own information, limiting how much data companies can collect and how they use it. It’s about protecting individual autonomy, safety, and privacy in an increasingly connected world.
- Residential Cannabis Cultivation: This proposal would allow adults to grow a small number of cannabis plants at home for personal use. It’s about giving people more freedom while promoting responsible use.
- Autonomous Vehicle Liability Bill: As technology evolves, it must prioritize safety while embracing innovation. This legislation sets guidelines for who is responsible when there is an injury, property damage, or a fatality when an autonomous vehicle is involved. The bill would hold the “computer driver” to the same standard of care and responsibility to which human drivers are currently held.
Leadership and Committees
I’m proud to serve on committees that tackle some of the most important issues facing our state:
- Vice Chair of the Technology, Economic Development, and Veterans Committee: From advancing innovation to supporting our veterans, this committee addresses opportunities to strengthen Washington’s economy and ensure equitable access to technological advancements.
- Consumer Protection & Business Committee: I’m working to safeguard consumers while fostering a fair and thriving business environment in our state.
- Environment & Energy Committee: Protecting Washington’s natural resources and advancing clean energy solutions are top priorities as we address the challenges of climate change.
Additionally, I’m excited to take on a leadership role in the National Council of Legislators from Gambling States. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside leaders from across the country. My personal focus is to address the challenges of problem gambling and ensure we’re providing the resources and support people need.

Opportunities for Engagement
Check Out the New Legislative Website!
Last fall the newly redesigned legislative website launched. The website address remains the same www.leg.wa.gov. However, if you’ve navigated this website in the past, links and locations of information may have changed in this process. Legislative Support Services created an excellent tutorial (with captions!) to help you navigate the new layout.
This video covers how to find bills, state laws and codes, committee information, how to find your district and legislators, and more. I hope you find this helpful.
Calling Future Leaders: Page Program
Do you know a student aged 14-16 who’s curious about state government? The Legislature’s Page Program is a fantastic way for young people to experience democracy in action. Pages assist with daily operations, learn about the legislative process, and meet leaders from across the state. Learn more and apply at the Page Program website.
