Dear friends and neighbors,
We are roughly three weeks away from the conclusion of this 60-day session. This week we had two full days of floor action and now we’re back in our committees, but this time we are hearing and passing Senate bills out of policy committees until the next cutoff, which is February 21.
I realize that government can seem divided and gridlocked. Fortunately, at the state level we agree more often than not, in fact, almost 80 percent of all the bills we have passed in the House so far this year have received strong bipartisan support. I believe we are all here, on both sides of the aisle, with a shared purpose: to do the best we can for the people and communities we serve.

In this short newsletter I’ll give you an update on where my bills are. I’ve written about them in previous communications, here and here, so this is just a quick list, in case you are tracking their progress. But first, a reminder about our community town hall TODAY:

Where are my bills?
- HB 1300 – Assisted Reproduction Fraud: Executive action scheduled in Senate Law & Justice Committee on February 20 at 10:30 AM
- HB 1637 – Unclaimed Property Fees: Referred to Senate Law & Justice Committee on January 26, no hearing scheduled yet
- HB 1939 – Social Work Compact: Passed by the Senate Health & Long-Term Care Committee on February 16 and referred to Senate Ways & Means
- HB 1999 – Fabricated Intimate Images: Executive action scheduled in Senate Law & Justice Committee on February 20 at 10:30AM
- HB 2088 – Crisis Teams / Liability: Hearing scheduled in Senate Law & Justice Committee on February 19 at 10:30 AM
- HB 2221 – American Sign Language Workgroup: While this bill did not pass, I was able to include it in the operating budget as a proviso, so it will get funded!
- SB 5955 / HB 2103 – Large port Districts: Hearing scheduled in House Local Government Committee on February 20 at 10:30 AM
