OLYMPIA – The Washington House of Representatives voted to approve House Bill 1333 today by a vote of 93-3 to provide an extension to the local sales and use tax for public facilities in rural counties. In supporting the bill, State Rep. Alex Ramel (D-Bellingham) issued the following statement:
“I’m excited to support the local economic development enabled by the rural public facilities tax credit program. Whether it’s broadband development by the Port of Skagit, support for affordable housing in Whatcom, or the marine trades training program through the San Juan County EDC, these funds have made a difference in our communities in NW Washington. House Bill 1333 will extend and build on these successes. I was proud to work last year to ensure that Whatcom wouldn’t be inadvertently excluded by these updates; and with that important change included, I was proud today to vote ‘yes’ to pass this critical bill.”
