Dear neighbors,
It is with sincere honor I want to say thank you. Thank you for electing me to represent you in Olympia for two more years. Thank you for staying engaged on the issues that matter most to our community such as ferry funding, housing affordability, clean energy, and progressive tax reform.
Since we adjourned last March with a balanced budget, we’ve learned more about the unique issues facing our state. We face a 2025 budgetary shortfall due to population growth, inflation, and slower than anticipated tax revenues. Federal pandemic relief funds helped, but the demand for services remains high while costs continue to rise. Any responsible budget must begin with equitable tax reforms to support Washington’s families and build a stronger, fairer state for all.
This is also a crucial time for hope in our state despite instability at the national level. We have a new Governor in office for the first time in 12 years, and I am joined by many new, young, and energetic incoming legislators. More than ever before, the 2025 legislative session has the potential to deliver innovative and meaningful policy solutions.
Most importantly, this legislative session is going to require that our community continue advocating and speaking up. To help me better understand your legislative priorities and what issues impact your household the most, please consider filling out this short survey.
A Legislative Preview of My Priorities:
As we enter this legislative session, I’d like to make you aware of my committee assignments. These include serving on the House Environment & Energy Committee, Finance, Rules, and Transportation Committee. I was also reelected by my colleagues to serve as the Majority Whip. You can learn more about the strategic role Majority Whips have by watching the video below or clicking here.
When it comes to policy priorities, I plan to advocate for the continued reliability of Washington’s energy infrastructure, increase housing availability and affordability, and improve democratic transparency.

The legislature meets every year, alternating between a short, 60-day session and a long, 105-day session. The long sessions occur on odd-numbered years, like this one. Here’s a quick look at some important dates during the next few months.
Become A Page!
Applications are open for the House Page Program – and I still have slots available! Legislative pages are youth aged 14 – 16 who serve in Olympia for one week during the legislative session. They receive daily civics education, participate in mock committee hearings, and more. Click here for more information – including a scholarship opportunity.
