Rep. Reeves Fights for STEM Classrooms, Senior Center in House Capital Budget

OLYMPIA – House leaders unveiled their construction plan for the state yesterday, which covers community and local government projects requested by state agencies and elected lawmakers. Federal Way projects championed by State Representative Kristine Reeves (D-Federal Way) include the STEM lab classrooms for Saghalie Middle School, the Federal Way Senior Center, and Auburn YMCA among others.

Reeves, who serves on the Capital Budget committee, had the chance to visit several projects in the district during the first few weeks of session and has seen first-hand the impact that these critical investments could have in helping Federal Way and the surrounding region grow strategically.

“We all know that science and technology are where the jobs of the future are and teaching STEM education is how we help our children prepare for the 21st century economy. Having visited the STEM centers in Federal Way schools and talking with students wanting to enter college ready to learn, I am proud of these investments for our kids and in our future,” said Reeves.

House and Senate leaders must negotiate a final capital budget before finalizing and sending to the Governor.
