OLYMPIA – On opening day of the 2023 legislative session, Representative-Elect Kristine Reeves (D – Federal Way), of the 30th District, was sworn into the Washington State House of Representatives. Returning to the Legislature for her third term, Rep. Reeves’ committee assignments are Consumer Protection & Business (Vice Chair), Agriculture & Natural Resources (Vice Chair), and Regulated Substances & Gaming.
“I am excited to get to work on behalf of our South King County communities and their families. As a working mom of two young kids in our schools, a small business owner, and a military family member, I am dedicated to ensuring our education system, our economy, and our environment work best for everyone.”
As a working mom, Reeves continues to advocate for working families in the South Sound by tackling issues such as childcare and educational access for all children.
Previously serving in the Legislature, Reeves was instrumental in passing one of the nation’s most progressive Paid Family Medical Leave (PFMLA) and created a task force to study the problems with affordability and accessibility to employer-supported childcare in Washington state that led to the passage of the Fair Start for Kids Act. Her continued work will focus on solutions for working families in Washington by putting real people and working families first.
“With an open door, an open mind, and a commitment to an accessible and transparent government, I look forward to meeting you in Olympia, at Coffee with Kristine in district, or at one of my kids’ sporting events. I work for you, call anytime.”
Rep. Reeves serves the 30th Legislative District, which includes Federal Way, Auburn, Des Moines, Algona, Pacific, and unincorporated King County.
The 2023 regular session is slated to run for 105 days, through April 23, 2023.
