“This budget is good for children, good for families, and good for our economy. It’s responsible and meets our funding obligations.
If we do not make investments we cannot get a return on investment.
So we make significant investments in early learning, ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed, in K-12 fulfilling our constitution obligation, and in higher education, allowing more students to afford college. This budget reduces some of the worst cuts we’ve made to our safety net since the recession, ensuring the most vulnerable among us can afford food, shelter and childcare. We begin to mend our broken mental health system, allowing for more accessible and humane treatment for those suffering from mental health problems.
This budget is about making sure all Washingtonians have the opportunity to succeed. This is a budget of which we can all be proud.”
