OLYMPIA – State Rep. Lisa Callan (D-Issaquah) was appointed by her colleagues to serve as a second vice chair of the House Capital Budget Committee. In this role, she’ll help facilitate the development of the state’s Capital Budget responsible for putting tens of thousands of people to work building public schools, colleges, parks, affordable housing, and mental health facilities.
“This committee’s work is about building for all Washingtonians, and I’m thrilled to bring our district’s perspective to the table through this expanded leadership role,” said Callan.
Last year, Callan and her colleagues in the 5th Legislative District fought for and received over $34 million in support of local projects. Those projects include funding for the Issaquah Opportunity Center, the new Maple Valley Veterans Memorial, the expansion of North Bend’s Encompass Northwest campus, and a pilot project to clean up PFAS.
Callan also serves as a member of the House Education Committee and the vice chair of the House Human Services & Early Learning Committee.
