“I am disappointed that my proposed legislation regarding discharge planning (HB 1826) failed to pass the Senate this session. Despite passing out of the House and multiple Senate committees, the bill simply ran out of time to pass a floor vote in the Senate ahead of a key cutoff point. While disappointing, I will continue to work to advocate on behalf of our community when it comes to public safety.
It is not all bad news, however. I am happy to report that new legislation (SB 5672) to involve stakeholders in implementing services for individuals in adult family homes has passed through both the House and Senate and will continue to move toward being signed into law by the Governor. Putting resident safety as a priority keeps our communities safer as well.”
