In this video, Rep. Lillian Ortiz-Self, D-Mukilteo, responds to claims that a new law, known as the Keeping Families Together Act (House Bill 1227 passed in 2021), is to blame for the recent events in Jefferson County that resulted in the tragic demise of a baby.

          Ortiz-Self stresses that if children are in harm’s way, they must be removed from the home to keep them safe, and that nothing in this law prohibits that.
