Town hall meetings—and a lifesaving bill passes the House

Dear neighbors,

Town hall meetings are a long tradition in our American democracy, and I’m happy to announce town halls in Coupeville and Stanwood on the weekend of Feb. 17-18.

  • Coupeville’s forum is set for 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 17th at the Coupeville Library, 788 NW Alexander Street.
  • Stanwood’s event runs from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18th at the Stanwood Library, 9701 271st Street.

Please note: our earlier notice had the wrong month—my apologies for that.

After the Legislature finishes our work in Olympia, I’ll host more coffee chats and town halls throughout the 10th District—and I hope to see you at one of them!

Saving money and lives

I’m pleased to report that my bill on asthma inhalers and epi-pens passed the House!

HB 1979 caps health insurance co-pays for these devices at $35, similar to the cap on insulin prices that the Legislature passed last year.

Many people rely on inhalers for asthma and epinephrine injectors for life-threatening allergies. The bill is already scheduled for a hearing in the Senate, where I hope it will pass and go to the governor to get signed into law.

More than halfway done

We are in the middle of voting legislation off the House floor, and we’ll know soon which bills made it out of the House by the deadline.

I’ll send an update about major bills and issues soon.

In the next few weeks, the House and Senate will also release their proposals for the three state budgets: operating, transportation, and capital construction. I’ll keep you informed about those budgets, and what it might mean for all our families and communities back home in the 10th District.

Please contact my office if you have questions, ideas, or comments—and I hope to see you at one of our upcoming forums!

As always, it’s an honor to serve as your state representative.
