OLYMPIA – Dave Paul was sworn in on Monday, January 14, as the newest state representative for Washington’s 10th Legislative District.
Rep. Paul brings a strong background in pre-K-12 and collegiate education to the state Legislature. He has taught and worked in higher education for over 20 years, most recently at Skagit Valley College where he has served for ten years. Rep. Paul is currently the Vice-President of Institutional Planning & Effectiveness.
“We need to do more to help prepare students for careers during high school and after graduation,” said Rep. Paul (D-Oak Harbor). “Our students should have access to diverse college and career-training pathways that don’t require families going into debt. We must ensure our state’s apprenticeship and certificate programs are strong and students have access to quality and affordable community colleges and universities.”
In addition to his experience with higher education, Paul also has significant experience with pre-K-12 schools. Paul served on his local School Board in Ohio and on the Board of Directors for the Oak Harbor Educational Foundation since 2009, where he is currently president.
The 105-day legislative session started on January 14, 2019.
