We Are Fighting for Health, Housing, and Rights in 2025!

Dear friends and neighbors,

Earlier last month, I asked you to share your legislative priorities with me. You highlighted that community safety, affordable housing, education, transportation, and tax reform matter most to you.

To support these priorities, I will be focusing this session on supporting policies that grow strong communities, improve affordability, and uplift the most vulnerable members of our community.

An Update on My Bills

This year, I have focused on legislation that improves equity in healthcare systems, reduces costs, shifts away from a regressive tax system that burdens working families, and improves community safety. Above are a few bills I’m especially proud to support. A full list of legislation I’m sponsoring and supporting can be found here.

Video Update

In my recent video update, I discuss two of my priority bills: HB 1614, which would make the state’s tax code less regressive; and HB 1482, assuring equity in health coverage. I hope you find it informative!

Protecting Immigrant Communities

Washington has consistently stood as a beacon of hope for immigrants. Thanks to the work of my colleagues in the House Democratic Caucus, we’ve codified critical protections into state law, such as the Keep Washington Working Act, made investments in civil legal aid, expanded healthcare access for undocumented immigrants, and banned for-profit detention centers.

But the fight doesn’t stop there. In response to the growing fears in our communities, the Washington State Commission on Hispanic Affairs has launched a rapid response hub to support undocumented immigrants. This hub is just one piece of a broader movement—one that includes and uplifts all immigrant communities seeking safety, dignity, and recognition.

At this moment, immigrants from all backgrounds are facing heightened uncertainty. We must stand together. We cannot allow fear to divide us or diminish the unique struggles each community faces. Justice and equity demand our shared voice, action, and commitment. We move forward as a united front, because true solidarity means seeing, hearing, and fighting for all who are impacted.

To learn more about our work, please read Speaker Laurie Jinkins’ statement on Federal Executive Orders Threatening Washington Residents and Latino Democratic Caucus’ statement in response to safety concerns for undocumented immigrant communities.
