Friends and neighbors,
Happy New Year and happy 105-day legislative session. We have a great deal of work ahead of us, and I am excited to get to work for you. I am optimistic about the success we will have this session, and I want you to know that my number one focus is ensuring that the needs of our district are met. Here are some top priorities I will be focusing on in the coming months.
Protecting Consumers
I am happy to be returning as the Chair of the Consumer Protection and Business Committee. The work of our committee is critical to protecting consumers and promoting a level playing field in the business sector. This year, we will focus on ensuring that insurance plans are affordable, deliver adequate support to the people who need them, and protect Washington consumers where federal regulations fall short. I look for any opportunity to lower costs and put more money back in your pockets.
Improving Community Safety
Keeping our communities safe is a top priority for me this session. Public safety requires thoughtful and balanced policies that address root causes while ensuring accountability and justice. I am committed to working with law enforcement, community organizations, and local leaders to support policies that reduce crime, promote de-escalation, and invest in prevention programs. By fostering trust and collaboration between community members and public safety professionals, we can create safer neighborhoods for everyone.
Addressing Housing Costs

We are in the midst of a housing crisis that requires bold action. Too many working families and vulnerable individuals are struggling to find affordable, stable housing. This session, I will focus on expanding workforce housing, addressing barriers to housing construction, and ensuring housing stability for renters. By increasing access to financing and streamlining permitting processes, we can build more affordable housing and create opportunities for families to thrive. Everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to call home, and I’m dedicated to making that a reality.
Participating in the Legislative Process
As a committee chair, I see first-hand how important it is to hear from Washington residents about proposed legislation.
