Newsletter: I-5 Bridge Update, Navigating State Resources, & COVID Vaccines

Dear friends and neighbors,

I hope you are doing well and looking forward to safely spending time with family and friends over the holidays.

December 1st marks the start of state election-year restrictions around legislative communications, so this is my last e-newsletter until session begins in January.

I want to take this opportunity to give you a quick update on the bridge replacement program, as well as provide you with a series of links to help you navigate government services to access the resources you need when you need them.

INTERSTATE BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM UPDATE

As the year moves to a close, the work I have been doing with the Joint Legislative Committee on the I-5 bridge is accelerating. This morning we held a Bi-state Legislative Committee meeting, which you can watch on TVW here.

The project team has brought many more stakeholders and groups together to make this project fit the needs of the community and ensure necessary changes are made.

The federal infrastructure package the president signed contains significant resources for this project and we must be ready for that partnership. Our work must incorporate the changes in freight patterns, commuter behavior, community needs impacts and climate change.

No complex project of this size will please everyone, but more people and more data has been collected and made public than I have ever seen.  When we began discussing how to get this project moving again, we wanted a transparent process to ensure that any and all decisions were based on good data now and for the future.

I am honored to be part of this process and am keenly aware of the responsibility. People who preceded us invested in our present.  We must step up and invest in the future of our children and grandchildren.
