Washington State Representative and Majority Caucus vice chair, Lillian Ortiz-Self, D-Mukilteo, issued the following statement in response to the independent investigation report on Representative Matt Shea released today:

“The report found that Rep. Shea was involved in an act of domestic terrorism against the nation. Let’s be very clear about the fact that there are constitutionally protected ways of disagreeing with the government; that’s what freedom of speech is all about, but they don’t include advocating for politically motivated violence. This is extremely serious and goes directly against Washington state’s values of diversity and inclusion. 

“There’s no room for promoting divisiveness and inducing fear in state government. Washingtonians deserve better.”
